Snowchain suitability

Your car handbook should give an indication as to whether you can fit snowchains to a given tyre size. However, if you are unsure about fitting snowchains to your particular vehicle, please feel free to complete our enquiry form and one of our helpful staff will check out your details and contact you by your preferred method with a quote or advice. Even if your handbook states that you should not fit snowchains, please contact us anyway and we maybe able to offer an alternative product to suit your needs.

 

Exchange Policy

If upon purchasing your Pewag snowchains you change your vehicle within twelve months and your chains no longer fit, we will exchange your existing chains for a like for like product. Your chains must be completely unused, in ‘as new' condition and compatible with our current range. A small carriage charge is all that you will pay to have your exchange chains delivered.

(Proof of purchase required for all exchanges. If model originally purchased is no longer in our product range, we regret that we are unable to make an exchange).

 

Legal requirements for the use of snow chains when travelling abroad

In the UK we have no legal requirement for vehicles to carry snowchains or any other traction aid during the winter. As a consequence of this, we have at least one or two instances during the winter when a snowfall causes absolute chaos on the roads.

In areas of Europe where they are more used to snowfalls it is a legal requirement to be prepared for such occurrences, particularly in alpine regions. So if you plan to visit France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy or any of the Scandinavian countries you should be aware that there are certain areas where snowchains or other traction aids must be carried and without which you may be refused entry.
